Samba Bridge Collapse: Probe ordered, admn to bear treatment expenses: DC
Hours after a shuttering of an under construction bridge was collapsed leaving 18 laborers injured, Deputy Commissioner Samba, Anuradha Gupta has ordered probe into the incident and have also announced that the expenses of treatment of injured persons will be borne by the administration out of District Red Cross funds.
“Enquiry has been ordered and the committee headed by the Additional District Commissioner has to submit the report in three days,” Anuradha Gupta said.

She also said that all expenses on treatment shall be borne by the District Administration out of District Red Cross funds.
Meanwhile, sharing details of the incident, the Deputy Commissioner said that at around 4 PM, a portion of the shuttering/slab of an under construction bridge at Kaulpur, Samba collapsed which resulted in injuries to 27 workers.
The bridge is being built by BRO.
“On receiving information, the administration and police swung into action within no time and immediately launched the rescue operation involving civil administration, police, BRO, health teams, SDRF and local volunteers,” she said.
Gupta said that the injured were rescued immediately and shifted to CHC Ramgarh and Accidental Hospital Vijaypur.
Gupta, who herself rushed to the spot along with SDM Vijaypur, SDPO Vijaypur and others, personally supervised the operation.
“The timely rescue operation and immediate response to tragedy helped in saving the precious lives,” said the Deputy Commissioner who also visited CHC Ramgarh and Accidental Hospital Vijaypur to enquire about the condition of the injured.
A total no of 11 injured persons were admitted in CHC Ramgarh out of which nine have been referred to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu for specialized treatment, said the Deputy Commissioner.
She said that similarly 16 injured persons were admitted in Accidental Hospital Vijaypur out of which nine have been referred to GMC Jammu.
“An enquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of accident,” she said and added that the enquiry committee shall be headed by ADC, Samba with SDM, Vijaypur, Xen PWD and XEN PMGSY as other members and the committee shall submit its report in three days.
