Admin suspends 4 employees for destroying articles of street vendors
The administration has placed four officials of Municipal Council (MC) Baramulla under suspension for destroying the items sold by the vendors in the Baramulla district.
The action initiated by the authorities comes a day after the video went viral on social media, wherein, employees of Municipal Council Baramulla were seen scattering the items of vendors which has drawn heavy criticism from netizens.
Taking note of the video, an order was issued by the Directorate of Urban Local Bodies Kashmir, wherein the Directorate addressing to the Executive Officer Municipal Baramulla had sought recovery of losses suffered by vendors from the concerned erring staff involved in the inhuman act.
“Regarding the viral video clip streamed on social media, wherein, the employees of Municipal Council Baramulla were seen destroying the articles, items being sold by the street vendors on their carts. The scene was quite painful as the concerned staff of the Municipal Council has acted inhumanity with street vendors”, the order reads.
These kinds of practices are bringing bad names to the MC in particular and the department as a whole, I am conveying serious displeasure on this action of the Municipal Council Baramulla, it added.
The Director of Urban Local Bodies Kashmir in the order directed to recover the losses suffered by these vendors from the concerned erring staff involved in such inhuman act and compensate the vendors accordingly. Besides, all the concerned staff involved in the brutal action shall immediately be placed under suspension and relieved to this Directorate by today and a detailed report in the matter be furnished to this Directorate through return mail, the order added.
Hours after the Directorate of Urban Local Bodies Kashmir initiated action, Executive Officer Municipal Council Baramulla placed four officials under suspension and attached to the Office of Directorate of Urban Local Bodies Kashmir Habitat Centre Bemina Kashmir. Those officials who have been suspended include Sheikh Sajad Parvaiz, Faizan Akbar Zunga, Sajad Ahmad Khanday and Nazir Ahmad Bhat.
