Historic Devika project to be complete by June: Jitendra
Stating that North India’s first river rejuvenation project, coming up on the lines of Namami Gaga, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh on Sunday said that the historic River Devika project, built at the cost of over Rs.190 crore, will be complete by June this year.
“The project will offer a unique destination both for pilgrim tourists as well as recreation tourists, in addition to being a state-of-the-art cremation centre,” said Dr. Singh while chairing the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee Meeting at Udhampur to review the physical and financial achievements of the schemes being implemented in the District Udhampur covered under DISHA.
This will bring Udhampur prominently on India’s map, he added.
The foundation stone of river Devika project was laid online by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Udhampur-Kathua-Doda is possibly the only Lok Sabha constituency in the country which has three centrally funded Medical Colleges in Udhampur, Kathua and Doda respectively with the efforts of Dr. Singh as its MP.

Dr. Jitendra Singh took extensive review of all schemes undertaken by different departments in the district.
The Minister directed all the officers to work in coordination for better results at the grass root level.
He further directed the officers to remain in touch with the people, pay regular visits and organize camps in all the remote and far-flung areas so that the people are made aware about the benefits of these schemes.

Meanwhile Dr. Singh also chaired the DISHA meet of District Reasi and called upon the officers to make sincere and dedicated efforts towards taking the benefits of all government schemes to the targeted sections of the society.
“Government is determined to provide enhanced basic facilities to people of the district at their doorsteps. The Union Minister emphasized the need for strong coordination between the PRIs and Administration for effective implementation of various welfare and development programmes,” he said.
Dr. Jitendra Singh asked the concerned people to aware people regarding Ayushman Bharat Sehat Scheme by mobilizing ASHAs, Anganwadi workers and PRIs in their respective areas and ensure that all the beneficiaries will be covered under these schemes and receive golden cards.
