No ACs, delay in repair work irks Civil Secretariat officials

At times when winter capital-Jammu is soaring temperatures with mercury hovering around to 44 to 45 degrees Celsius, the employees stationed in Civil Secretariat have been left to fend for themselves on God’s mercy with no cooling arrangements.

Furthermore, those working in Srinagar secretariat are irked over non-execution of repair works by the Executive Engineer Estate Division, Srinagar.

Official sources informed that the glaring issues were raised during an emergency meeting of J&K Civil Secretariat, Lower Grade Employee Union, under the Chairmanship of Maqbool Hussain, President, adding, later that the employees made representation to the Chief Secretary of J&K Arun Kumar Mehta, Principal Secretary to the Government General Administration Department Manoj Kumar Dwivedi and Administrative Secretary Estates Department Alok Kumar and sought their intervention over the hardships being faced by them.

They said that the employees stationed in Jammu are facing difficulties in attending the office as they have to bear scorching temperatures running from 41 to 48 degrees Celsius because of the non-arrangement of the cooling system. They said that they were promised by the higher officials for installation of the Air Conditioners but nothing seems have translated on the ground.

Stating the grievances of those stationed in Srinagar, they said that, the employees over there are forced to live in dilapidated conditions reason best known to the Executive Engineer Estate Department division Srinagar. Sharing further details, they said that the said officer did not issue any tender for repair works of their quarters allotted to them in various colonies at Srinagar.
