JU improves its position, KU slips several notches from last year
University of Jammu and University of Kashmir among five premier institution of Jammu and Kashmir figured in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings- 2022 list, which was announced by the Ministry of Education, Government of India on Friday.
With Jammu University improves its previous position with 10 ranks while the Kashmir University slips several notches from last year’s position.
As per the details, Jammu University attained 56th ranking NIRF-2022 among the Universities with improvement of its rank by 10 places. In last ranking JU was at 66th spot.
However, the University of Kashmir has slipped by several notches in this year’s ranking of universities under NIRF, securing a rank of 53. Last year, the KU had figured among top 50 universities in the country among all universities securing the 48th rank.
Although slipped to the ranks, Kashmir University has secured 84th position in the overall category and topped in J&K while Jammu University is placed at 93rd position.
On ranking, Prof Umesh Rai, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu assured that University will maintain and improve its standards of academics, research, outreach, infrastructure and student support.
He give credit to all the stakeholders and said that the level of efforts of the faculty, officers, staff, scholars and students can be gauged from the fact that the University is consistently performing well in accreditations and rankings by different agencies
Two institutions from J&K also figure in the rankings for engineering institutions.
While the National Institute of Technology Srinagar figures at 66th spot among the engineering institutions, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University- figures at 101st position.
Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Sehga, Director NIT Srinagar in his message congratulated the faculty, research scholars, and staff members.
“NIT Srinagar has done well in the NIRF rankings and it was the joint efforts and all have performed well,” he said.
In the management category, five-year-old- Indian Institute of Management Jammu (IIMJ) figures at 36th rank while Jammu University’s Management department has secured 100th rank.
The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University has secured 16th spot in the architecture category.
The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) to rank India’s top colleges and universities has been released today. The Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan released the NIRF report. NIRF India Rankings 2022 have been announced for ten categories – Overall, Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, Colleges, Architecture, Law, Medical, Dental and Research.
