Members of Lok Sabha observe one minute’s silence in honour of freedom fighters

Members of the Lok Sabha today observed a minute’s silence in honour of the freedom fighters who laid down their lives for the freedom of the country.

As soon as the house met for the day, Speaker Om Birla recalled the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters, when the country is celebrating the 75th Anniversary of Independence. The MPs also took a pledge to work for the welfare of the nation.

The Speaker also congratulated the members of the Indian contingent for their spectacular performance in the Birmingham Commonwealth Games where India secured a 18 gold, 15 silver and 22 bronze medals.
