COVID-19: J&K tally crosses 35000 as 655 fresh cases test positive

Recovery rate over 76 percent in UT

Jammu, August 27 : Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday reported 655 fresh cases of Covid-19 pandemic including 71 travelers taking the total number of positive cases to 35,135 in the Union Territory.

Of the total 35,135 cases, 27,369 are from Kashmir and 7,766 from Jammu division. Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), among 655 new cases, 497 belong to Kashmir division while as 158 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 27,369 including 20,730 recoveries while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 7,766 including 5,991 recoveries and 57 deaths.

The officials said that total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 7,743 including 6,025 from Kashmir division and 1,718 from Jammu division.

With 528 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 26,721 which is 76.05 percent of the total cases.

Pertinently, Srinagar district alone has 8,735 positive cases which is more than the total number of positive cases in Jammu division where total cases are 7,766

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 182 from Srinagar, 33 from Baramulla, 42 from Pulwama, 60 from Budgam, 27 from Anantnag, 08 from Kulgam, 23 from Shopian, 46 from Kupwara, 51 from Bandipora and 25 from Ganderbal in Kashmir division while as 158 from Jammu division include 87 from Jammu, 07 from Rajouri, 25 from Kuthua, 08 from Udhampur, 11 from Samba, 10 from Doda, 05 from Poonch, 02 from Reasiand 03 from Kishtiwar,” officials disclosed.

As per officials figures, 8,735 positive cases including 213 deaths and 6,896 recoveries are from Srinagar, 2,727 including 99 deaths and 2,081 recoveries are from Baramulla, 2,484 including 1,966 recoveries and 48 deaths are from Pulwama, 2,331  including 1,648 recoveries and 57 deaths are from Budgam, 2,220 including 48 deaths and 1,672 recoveries are from Anantnag, 1,885 including 1,632 recoveries and 33 deaths are from Kulgam, 1,669 cases including 1,520 and 28 deaths are from Shopian, 1,989 including 1,325 recoveries and 45 deaths are from Kupwara, 2,025 including 1,282 recoveries and 24 deaths are from Bandipora and 1,304 including 708 recoveries and 19 deaths are from Ganderbal.

In Jammu division, 2,648 including 1,824 recoveries and 38 deaths are from Jammu district, 865 including 760 recoveries and 05 deaths are from Rajouri, 807 including 642 recoveries and 03 deaths are from Kuthua, 760 including 635 recoveries and 02 deaths are from Udhampur, 651 including 627 recoveries and 01 death are from Ramban, 682 including 489 recoveries and 02 deaths are from Samba, 394 including 333 recoveries and 02 deaths are from Doda, 388 including 315 recoveries and 03 deaths are from Poonch, 362 including 182 recoveries are from Reasi and 209 including 184 recoveries and 01 death are from Kishtwar.

As per the daily information bulletin, 448,697 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 44,537 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 7,743 persons are in isolation.

According to the bulletin, 352,018 persons have completed surveillance period and 43,728 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 915,226 samples are available.

Out of 915,226 the number of samples tested negative stands at 880,091 while 35,135 have tested positive, among them 7,743 are active and 26,721 persons have recovered
