Sensex, Nifty gain more than half per cent in afternoon trade

The Sensex and the Nifty today gained more than half a per cent in the afternoon trade.

Both the indices rose amid positive cues from other Asian share markets.

The Sensex climbed 349 points, or 0.58 percent, to trade at 60,191 while the Nifty surged 99 points or 0.56 per cent, to trade at 17,924.

In the forex market, the rupee weakened five paise to trade at 79 rupees and 44 paise against the US dollar in afternoon deals.
