No change in rule related to booking of tickets for children travelling in trains: Govt

The Ministry of Railways says it has not introduced any changes with regard to booking of tickets for children travelling in trains.

The Ministry said, some media reports have claimed that children between the age of one to four years will have to get a ticket for travelling in the train.

It termed such reports as misleading, and clarified that free travel is allowed for children below five years, if no berth is booked.

The Ministry further said, if seat shall be sought on a voluntary basis for children of age below five years, full adult fare will be charged.
