Ashwini Ponnappa, N. Sikki Reddy advance to 2nd round in women’s doubles event of BWF World Championships
In Badminton, Indian shuttlers Ashwini Ponnappa and N. Sikki Reddy entered in the second round today defeating Maldives’ pair A. N. Abdul Razzaq and F. Abdul Razzaq in the women’s doubles event of the BWF World Championships being held in Tokyo. It was a straight-game win 21-7, 21-9 with the contest lasting just 21 minutes.

Meanwhile, Tanisha Crasto and Ishaan Bhatnagar defeated German duo Patrick Scheiel and Franziska Volkmann by 21-13, 21-13 in the mix doubles event, making to the second round.
The fast contest was wrapped up in 29 minutes. Earlier, B. Sai Praneeth made a first-round exit from the tournament, as the unseeded player lost against Chou Tien Chen.
He went down to his rival by 15-21, 21-15,15-15. This comes in as Sai’s fifth in-line defeat against Chen. Later in the day, Kidambi Srikanth, Lakshya Sen, Prannoy H.S., M.R. Arjun and Dhruv Kapila will be seen in action.
