PM congratulates Indian wrestling team on winning 16 medals at U-20 World Championships
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Indian wrestling team on winning 16 medals at the U-20 World Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria.
In a tweet, he said, our wrestlers make us proud again. Mr. Modi said, this is India’s best-ever performance. It also shows the future of Indian wrestling is in safe hands, he added.
Giving their best-ever performance, Team India earned a total of 16 medals across different categories at the U-20 World Wrestling Championships, which included a gold medal, four silver medals, and 11 bronze medals.
During the Championships, 17-year-old wrestler, Antim Panghal became the first ever Indian woman to earn a gold medal finish in the U-20 world wrestling championships.
India finished 2nd in the overall women’s team ranking while finishing 3rd in the Men’s Freestyle Team event.
