GKPD commits its unconditional and full support to the Kashmiri Pandit community members based in Kashmir

Approximately 808 Kashmiri Pandit families stayed back in the valley under extremely
difficult circumstances after the majority of the Kashmiri Pandit community were forced
to leave the State because of mass killings and genocide committed against them 1989
onwards. These families have shown extreme fortitude in the face of grave dangers and
subjugation. They are the flag bearers of the community in our ancestral homeland.

However, inspite of this, it is painful to note that over the years they have had to face
extreme hardships as far as their living conditions, financial needs, employment needs
and general welfare is concerned. Their current demands are reflective of the years of
neglect and discrimination faced by them and necessitates support at a global level. It is
of particular concern that the community is especially facing significant harassment at the
hands of anti-nationalist elements within the local administration since the abrogation of
article 370. Even the orders of the Courts on behalf of the Kashmiri Pandits are being
flouted and those concerned held in contempt of the Court.

We request the Lt Governor and the local administration to urgently look into this matter
as a matter of urgency. It needs action and justice.

GKPD condemns the dastardly killing of Bhupinder Singh, Block Development Officer in
Kashmir, by terrorists. Such targeted killings reinforce our resolve of one-place settlement
for displaced Kashmiri Pandits in Kashmir.
