2 Hizb militants killed in encounter in Valley
Two Hizbul Mujahideen militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, police said.
Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Poshkreeri area of Anantnag district following information about presence of terrorists there, a police official said.
He said the search operation turned into an encounter after the militants opened firing at the security forces who retaliated.

Two militants were killed in the gun battle, the official said, adding the duo was affiliated with proscribed terror outfit Hizbul Mujahideen.
“Killed terrorists identified as Danish Bhat KokabDuree& Basharat Nabi, both affiliated with proscribed terror outfit HM. Both were involved in killing of one TA soldier Saleem on 9 April 2021 & killing of two civilians on 29 May 2021 in Jablipora,” Additional DGP, Kashmir Zone, Vijay Kumar tweeted.
Earlier, militants have managed to give slip to security forces in Baskuchan village of Imamsahib in south Kashmir’s Shopian district after a brief exchange of fire last evening, officials said.
As per reports, a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF had launched a Cordon and Search Operation on a specific information about the presence of militants in the area on Monday.
He said that as the joint team of forces approached toward the suspected spot, hiding militants fired upon them, triggering an encounter.
He added that after the initial exchange of fire, no contact was established with the hiding militants.
The official said that cordon layers were tightened after the initial exchange of fire, however, militants managed to give slip to forces and the operation has been called off now.
