Sensex loses 352 points, Nifty declines 112 points in afternoon trade

The Sensex and the Nifty today witnessed losses of more than half a percent in the afternoon trade. Both stock indices fell amid mixed cues from other Asian share markets. The Sensex was trading below the 60,000 mark while the Nifty was trading below 17,900 level.

The Sensex lost 352 points, or 0.58 per cent, to trade at 59,995. The Nifty also declined 112 points, or 0.62 per cent, to trade at 17,892 when the reports last came in.

In the forex market, the rupee also weakened 23 paise to trade at 79 rupees and 67 paise against the US dollar in the afternoon deals.
