Heavy rains accompanied by thunder lashed several parts of Hyderabad : Telangana

In Telangana, heavy rains accompanied by thunder lashed several parts of Hyderabad yesterday evening inundating low-lying areas and busy thoroughfares. The torrential rain impacted the commuter traffic, as roads at vital junctions in Hyderabad came under sheets of rainwater.

Many parts of the city reported massive thunderstorms that remained active for nearly a few hours. Widespread showers were reported in the areas like Uppal, Nagole, LB Nagar, Tarnaka, Boduppal, Amberpet, Nampally, Abids, Mehdipatnam and Malakpet. Several parts received over 9 cm of rainfall during one hour.

Met Department officials have issued a yellow alert for Hyderabad and informed that light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms is likely in the state capital today also following a monsoon trough. All other districts in the State too are likely to witness light to moderate rain for the next two days.
