J&K government announces uniform academic calendar in schools
The Jammu and Kashmir government Friday has decided to implement a uniform academic calendar in all schools in the union territory including the conduct of annual examinations in the March-April session for up to class nine.

The announcement comes a day after the Director of School Education Kashmir had said that they have sent a proposal to the government regarding the conduct of exams from classes 1st to 9th in the month of March.
An order in this regard has been issued by the Principal Secretary to the School Education Department, Alok Kumar.
“In continuation to Government Order No. 2074-JK (EDU) of 2022 dated 31.08.2022, the sanction is hereby accorded to the implementation of Uniform Academic Calendar including the conduct of annual examinations in March-April session for classes up to the 9th standard in all the government and government recognized private schools of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir”, reads the order.
It is further ordered that new admissions shall commence from the month of March of the calendar year, the order reads.
It is pertinent to mention here that SED last month announced that the annual (regular) examination from class 10th to 12th in the Jammu and Kashmir division excluding hard zones shall be held in the month of March.
Whereas, the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education listed as many as 444 government schools in Jammu and Kashmir wherein the exams will be held in the month of April.
