Srinagar, October 10, 2022: Gul Javed, renowned Radio, TV and Theatre artist of J&K popularly
known as KK talks about his career in acting and his popular character KK in conversation with
renowned broadcaster of J&K Rashid Nizami.

In our series of TheRightConnect with the Right Person, Gul Javed talks to Rashid Nizami on his
career in acting and his tremendous popularity through various mediums of performing art in J&K.
Gul Javed aka KK (Kader Kraka) as an actor needs no introduction to Kashmiris and is a household
name due to his acting skills and numerous roles performed by him on Radio, Theatre and
Television.

Gul Javed started his career as an actor from stage but achieved huge popularity due to his character
in one of the TV Serials where he was named as Kader Kraka (KK) and people started refereeing him
as KK instead of Gul Javed.

Talking about this episode Gul Javed says that once a TV serial ‘Mouj’ needed a character for which
various actors were auditioned but none got selected and it was a chance meeting with the producer
at TV Station who asked me to audition for the role of ‘Kader Kraka’ and handed over the script but
next day he refused the role saying he would not be able to do the role as it may stick to his name.

It was after around three months that he accepted the role of ‘Kader Kraka’ on the advice of his wife
and luckily the TV serial was hugely popular particularly the Character Kader Kraka (KK) and from
then onwards nobody knew him by his real name Gul Javed but KK.

Gul Javed has acted in numerous TV serials, Radio serials and Theatre performances as Hero, Villain
and other characters.

However, his career in acting started in 1975 through stage when he joined a theatre group named
Kashmir Valley Theatre where Makhan Lal Bhat was the director of the group who used to work in
Song and Drama Division as an actor and instructor.

The first play was ‘Fankar’ written by Bashir Dada and later in ‘Zalur’ and ultimately Gul Javed turned
to TV and Radio.

Gul Javed was born in Srinagar in Maharaja Bazar and was not very much interested in studies but
attracted to theatre and Cinema and was a huge fan of Dev Anand. ‘KK’ says it took him 22 years to
pass 10th class.

Gul Javed started his TV career in serial ‘Buniyad’ directed by Jai Kishen Zutshi in 1976 and later with
Ashok Jail Khani in ‘Harud’ where he played Dr. Khalid with Kamal Razadn in the lead role.

Gul Javed is also a Make-up Artist and says he learned it due to his experience in theatre.
