New Delhi: 3 day-long celebrations of 400th birth anniversary of great Ahom general Lachit Barphukan to begin tomorrow
The 3 day-long celebrations of the 400th birth anniversary of great Ahom general Lachit Barphukan will begin tomorrow in New Delhi. Union Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Law minister Kiren Rijijju will participate in the celebrations tomorrow. A documentary and a coffee table book on the life and glory of Lachit Barphukan are to be inaugurated in New Delhi during the event. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the concluding event on 25th of this month at Vigyan Bhawan.
Our Correspondent reports that the Assam government is celebrating the 400th birth anniversary of Lachit Barphukan through week-long activities. The yearlong celebration of 400th birth anniversary of Lachit Barphukan was inaugurated by former President Ram Nath Kovind in February this year in Guwahati. Lachit Barphukan was the famous Ahom General who defeated the Mughals and halted the expanding ambitions of Aurangzeb. We spoke to writer Arup Kumar Dutta on the valour of Lachit Barphukan.
