Election campaigning intensifies in Gujarat; political leaders leaving no stone unturned to woo voters

In Guajrat, political leaders are leaving no stone unturned to woo the voters as just a few days are left for the campaigning for first phase of polls. Senior leaders of all the major parties will campaign in the state today to seek votes.

Senior BJP leaders including Union Home minister Amit Shah, Smriti Irani are leading the BJP’s poll campaign today. Mr Shah will hold public meetings in Mahudha, Jhalod, Waghara and Naroda and lead a road show in Nandod today. Ms. Irani will also address two public meetings in Valsad district in the noon.

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will campaign for the BJP candidates among the Odia people in Surat. Union Minister Purushottam Rupala is campaigning in South Gujarat today. On the other hand, senior Congress leaders Rajeev Shukla and Alok Sharma and the Congress MP Shaktisinh Gohil will address press conferences in Ahmedabad today. Meanwhile, senior leader of Aam Aadmi Party and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will seek people’s support by holding roadshows at various places today.

There is an interesting contest between two brothers in Gujarat assembly elections in Ankleshwar, the biggest industrial area of the state.Sources said that these brothers are candidates of two major parties. Ankleshwar has been recognized as a one of the major industrial areas of the country. But this time the eyes of the entire state are focused on the assembly elections being held here in the first phase.

BJP has fielded four-time MLA Ishwar Singh Patel from this assembly seat for the fifth time. Ishwar Patel has won four times in a row since 2002 and his margin of victory has always increased. But this time he is contesting against his own elder brother Vijay Patel, whom the Congress has declared its candidate. Vijay Patel was also a part of BJP earlier and has held various positions.

Being an industrial area, more than local issues, state and national issues dominate in this constituency. Apart from these two candidates, a total of four candidates are in fray from this seat including AAP candidate Ankur Patel.

BJP workers are fully confident in their candidate’s victory this time too. On the other hand, Congress is trying to stop BJP’s victory march.
