NEP-2022 Waqf Board to change curriculum in elementary, primary schools
Following the implementation of the National Education Policy-(NEP) 2022, the Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board has initiated the process of changing the curriculum in their elementary and primary schools in the valley.
A committee has been constituted in this regard by the Waqf Board.
Talking to The News Now, Ishtiyaq Mohi-ud-din Executive Magistrate Tehsildar Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board said, “Following the implementation of National Education Policy-2020, the Waqf Board has decided to switch over to a new syllabus for elementary and primary classes.
The Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board is providing quality and subsidized education for elementary and primary classes for the last several decades. However, the last time the syllabus was changed was five years back and the board wants to bring new reforms to the education system, Ishtiyaq said.
Adding that he said, “We have over 12 schools in Kashmir, out of which three are Higher Secondary Schools and the rest are middle and elementary schools”.
As of now five to 10 publications have approached the Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board with a new curriculum and now the committee will decide the further proceedings, Ishtiyaq said. Adding that he said, “All will be done purely on the basis to benefit the students and society”.
He further said that the Jammu and Kashmir Board wants to provide flexibility to students. And as of now, we have commenced the process for primary and elementary schools and we want our students to explore all the options that are there available in the National Education Policy.
Also, I would like to say that we have an enrollment of 3000 students in Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board schools that have over 500 teachers. Further, if you look at the fee in our schools, the fee is much lower than the schools across Kashmir, Ishtiyaq said. Adding that he said, “We have a board meeting next month during which several decisions will be taken on strengthening education”.
