Blast near LG’s function site, robbery sparks security concerns in Jammu
The two incidents including a grenade blast near Lieutenant Governor’s function site and a broad daylight robbery in a prominent businessman’s house in a single day raised question mark on policing and the alarming situation of winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir.
While police are probing the duo cases with no formal arrest of any accused person, the incidents spread panic in Jammu. Official sources said that the incident of explosion has been termed as a first special case of its own nature in Nagrota police station’s daily diary report ( Rojnamcha) as it took place just a couple of kilometer away from the inauguration site of a multi-level parking facility at Panjtirthi near the Raj Bhavan.
“Some unknown persons at about 2225 hours caused an explosion near Sidhra Bridge naka point to cause serious injury to life and property . Due to the explosion , there has been no loss of life and property . Based on the commission of offence case vide FIR No.411 / 2022 U / S 3 Explosive substances Act stand registered at Police Station Nagrota”, said official sources quoting police’s report .
Meanwhile, in Gandhi Nagar theft case at residence of Rakesh Agarwal (99 AD) Police have registered a case vide FIR No 310/2022 u/s 395/342/120-b/IPC /3/25 A against unknown person.
Panic gripped Gandhi Nagar area after ten armed men robbed Rs.12 lakh after taking the family of a renowned businessman hostage in their house in broad daylight, here on Wednesday. The incident occurred around 8 am. The incident of theft at gunpoint has assumed alarming proportions in the city.
Official sources said that around 8 to 10 thieves barged into 99 AD ,the house of a renowned businessman namely Rakesh Agarwal in posh locality of the city, Green Belt area in Gandhi Nagar, early in the morning and held hostage of all the family members present in the house at gunpoint. They snatched their mobile phones, locked them in one room, had liquor and committed theft in broad daylight. They were demanding two crores from them but later took away Rs 12 lakh cash.
After four hours of theft, the alleged thieves also took away DvR from the CCTV camera installed in the house with them.
