Car plunges into Chenab river in Doda

A car with unknown number of occupants skidded off the road and plunged into Chenab river near Doda on Tuesday morning, police said.

SSP Doda, Abdul Qayoom said that the accident took place at about 5:30 am near Pul-Doda opposite stone crusher Ghat on Batote-Doda- Kishtwar national highway.

He said that the exact number of persons traveling in the vehicle is not known yet.

“Teams have reached the spot and rescue operation has been launched on the river Chenab,” he said.
Meanwhile, a driving license belonging to Manjeet Singh S/o Pritam Singh R/o Bhadarwah has been found on the spot.

As the last reports came in, a number plate bearing registration number JK06A 6311 has been recovered from the the river near the accident site.
