PM Modi to name 21 islands of Andaman & Nicobar after Param Vir Chakra Awardees
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will name the 21 largest unnamed islands of Andaman & Nicobar after Param Vir Chakra awardees today, January 23.
He will virtually attend the event being held at Port Blair. The Prime Minister will also unveil the model of the National Memorial dedicated to Netaji. Home Minister Amit Shah will be present at the event and address the gathering. He arrived in Port Blair last night on a two-day visit to Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan will also attend the event.
In the evening, Home Minister Amit Shah will attend the culmination program of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav Iconic Week at Netaji Stadium in Port Blair. A cultural program will be organised where singer Sukhwinder Singh will perform live.
Earlier yesterday, a series of events were held in Port Blair, such as Kavi Sammelan at Cellular Jail, a music and dance show, and a naval band performance. The Aerobatic Team display by Sukriya Kiran of the India Air Force was the main centre of attraction. Nine aircraft thrilled the audience during an air show. Today, Surya Kiran Team will also perform an Aerobatic show.
