Ladakh to host G20 meet in April 2023
The Union Territory of Ladakh will be hosting the G20 meeting in the month of April this year.
Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, or “One Earth, One Family, One Future,” is the theme for India’s G20.
“Looking forward to the scintillating G20 engagements in the Union Territory of Ladakh this April,” Directorate of Information (Ladakh) wrote on its Twitter handle.
The newly carved UT has been preparing for hosting the G20 meeting for weeks now.
In this regard, the Divisional Commissioner/Secretary Ladakh Saugat Biswas held a meeting regarding reception of G20 delegates recently. The meeting was held at at KBR Airport Leh.
AAI, IAF, and District Administration including police, health, urban development and culture departments attended the meeting.
The Div Com stressed upon the departments to prepare for the reception of G20 delegates in Ladakh.
Similarly, Deputy Commissioner Leh, Shrikant Suse recently chaired a meeting to concretely decide on the beautification processes for the upcoming G20 India meetings to be held in Leh.
The meeting was held with the concerned departmental officers and representatives from different agencies.
Prior to that, the District administration headed by Shrikant Susu inspected areas from Singge Namgyal Chowk to Thiksey Monastery for beautification purposes.
He directed the concerned officers to initiate the beautification processes at the earliest keeping in view the G20 meetings to be held in cold desert.
In the run-up to G20 India preparation, DC Suse and Director, Urban Local Bodies (ULB) Ladakh inspected Skalzangling and Skara market area.
The DC also took a review of cleanliness in the market areas and directed for suitably revamping it.
The UT and concerned District administrations have been preparing for hosting the G20 meeting to be held in Ladakh.
India holds the Presidency of the G20 from December 1, 2022 to November 30, 2023.
