Army, IAF personnel evacuate two pregnant women from snow-covered Nawapachi in Kishtwar district

The Indian Army and Air Force personnel evacuated two pregnant women from a snow-covered region of the Kishtwar district and shifted them to a nearby hospital, an army spokesperson said on Wednesday.

The Army’s public relations officer (PRO) Lt Colonel Devender Anand, said, “A joint effort involving the Army, Indian Air Force, and civil administration resulted in the successful evacuation of the critically ill women from the Nawapachi area of Kishtwar district”.

“The Indian Army is offering aid to people residing in a region with harsh weather and extremely challenging conditions. For six months of the year, the path from the South Kashmir side to the area is inaccessible, cutting it off from the rest of the world,” Col Anand added.

On February 9, the Indian Army and Indian Air Force had airlifted a critically ill pregnant woman from a village in the Nawapachi region.
