Sensex, Nifty witnessed modest gains in afternoon trade

The Sensex and the Nifty today witnessed modest gains in the afternoon trade. The BSE Sensex was trading above the 60,000 mark while the NSE Nifty was trading near 17,700 level.

Both stocks rose amid positive global cues.  The Sensex gained 177 points to trade at 60,023. The Nifty was also 63 points up to trade at 17,687, a short while ago.
