Centre working towards development of around 10,000 Kilometers of Optic Fibre Cables infrastructure across country by 2024-25

Centre is working towards the development of around ten thousand Kilometers of Optic Fibre Cables infrastructure across the country by 2024 – 25. The Optic Fibre Cables network, developed by the National Highway Authority of India will help expedite the rollout of new-age telecom technologies like 5G and 6G internet connectivity to remote locations across the country.

National Highways Logistics Management Limited will implement the network of Digital Highways by developing integrated utility corridors along the National Highways to develop Optic Fibre Cables infrastructure.

Around one thousand 367 kilometers on Delhi – Mumbai Expressway and 512 km on Hyderabad – Bangalore Corridor have been identified as pilot routes for the Digital Highway development.

The Road Transport and Highways Ministry said, the creation of Digital Highways will not only have a catalytic impact on the growth and development but will also contribute to the digital transformation of the country.
