Stock Market: Sensex climbs 211 points, Nifty to trade at 17,879

Domestic benchmark indices witnessed gains of about half a percent in the afternoon trade. The Index of top 30 Companies at Bombay Stock Exchange, Sensex, was trading above 60,500 mark while Nifty, index of top 50 companies on National Stock Exchange, was trading at over 17,850 level. Both stocks added amid mixed global cues.

The Sensex climbed 211 points or 0.35 percent to trade at 60,512. The Nifty also rose 65 points or 0.4 percent to trade at 17,879.

In the forex market, the rupee appreciated eight paise to 81 rupees and 68 paise in the afternoon deals.
