Severe cyclonic storm Biparjoy formed in Arabian Sea; Strong wind, light to moderate rain may occur in South Gujarat, Saurashtra

Severe cyclonic storm Biparjoy formed in the Arabian Sea and moved nearly northwards with a speed of 9 kilometres per hour. It is very likely to intensify further and move North-North East wards gradually during the next 24 hours. There can be a change in the weather in the state of Gujarat. Wind speeds of 40 kilometers per hour may occur in South Gujarat and Saurashtra and also, light to moderate rain may occur.

Regional Director of the Indian Meteorological Department MANORAMA Mohanty said, as of now, this storm is located 620 km away from Porbandar, but the possibility of it hitting Gujarat is minimal. However, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has asked the Collectors in 13 coastal districts of the State like Devbhoomi Dwarka, Gir Somnath, Porbandar, Amreli, Jamnagar, Surat, Valsad, Navsari and others to be vigilant.
