IMD informs moderate rain is likely to occur at isolated places in Maharashtra’s districts
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) of Mumbai today informed that moderate spells of rain are very likely to occur at isolated places in Maharashtra’s districts including Mumbai, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg and Kolhapur during the next 3-4 hours.
The IMD downgraded the orange alert and has issued a yellow alert for the city and Thane for today. However, the city witnessed heavy rainfall in isolated pockets since morning. The Mumbai Pune Highway was blocked due to a landslide last night. The traffic in the city has been moving slower than normal due to water logging in certain areas. Trains on all three lines are running normally.
Mumbai has recorded over 100 mm of rainfall in the past 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Monday. Between Sunday and Monday until 8.30 am, the IMD’s weather recording station at Santacruz received 101 mm of rain whereas the Colaba observatory recorded 45 mm of downpour.
