India will stop import of substitutable coal in next 2 years says, Union Coal & Mines Minister Pralhad Joshi

India will stop the import of substitutable coal in the next two years. Replying to supplementaries during the Question Hour in the Lok Sabha, Union Coal and Mines Minister Pralhad Joshi said the government has taken steps to make the country self-reliant in the sector as coal production has increased.

He added that the country is going to achieve one billion tonne of coal production soon. The Minister said there used to be irregularities in the coal production and coal block allocations earlier but this government has checked it, and now even one block of coal cannot be given on a discretionary basis.
