14 crore households have tap water supply in their homes, Government says

The Government today said out of over 19 crore rural households in the country, nearly 14 crore households are reported to have tap water supply in their homes as on 3rd of this month. In a written reply in the Lok Sabha, the Minister of State for Jal Shakti Prahlad Singh Patel said at the time of announcement of Jal Jeevan Mission in August 2019, just over three crore rural households were reported to have tap water connections.

Later more than 10 crore rural households have been provided with tap water connections under Jal Jeevan Mission, JJM. He said as reported by States, planning for works under JJM have mostly been completed and almost all the works have been awarded for providing household tap water connections.
