President Droupadi Murmu called for overall development of students and their need to focus on learning life skills.

Speaking at the centenary celebrations of the Hyderabad Public School (HPS) in Hyderabad, President Murmu commended the HPS for producing great alumni like Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella. As part of the five-day southern sojourn at Rastrapathi Nilayam at Bollarum, the President is in Hyderabad.

Speaking on the occasion, the President said it is heartening to know that the HPS also enthuses the students to focus on extra- curricular activities and also encourages critical thinking among students. President Murmu said the students should not only be proficient technically but also be fit emotionally. She exhorted teachers and alumni that the students should be nurtured to face any crisis situation. The President added that the students should focus not only in their progress but also of others.

Earlier, Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan said the students should be encouraged in sports. Recalling Prime Minister Narendra Modi who says children should be encouraged outside classroom too, the Governor exuded confidence that the HPS is giving due importance to the true spirit of the new National Education Policy.  State Panchayat Raj minister  Danasari Anasuya, Education Secretary  Burra Venkatesam, HPS society President Gusti J Noria were present.

Faculty, students and alumni of HPS were also present.
