Union Minister Dr. Virendra Kumar inaugurates and lays foundation stone for 34 residential hostels

In a significant stride towards improving educational opportunities for marginalized communities, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister, Dr .Virendra Kumar inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 34 residential hostels worth 165.81 crore rupees across various states and central institutes.

 

As per the Ministry, these hostels, catering to the accommodation needs of Scheduled Castes (SC) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) students, underscore the government’s commitment to fostering inclusive education.

The initiative aims to create a conducive environment for learning, ensuring that students from marginalized backgrounds have access to quality education without hindrances. The Ministry has sanctioned a sum of 385.94 crore rupees for the construction of 192 SC hostels since 2014-15.

.Additionally, 288.61 crore rupees have been released under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme for the construction of hostels for OBC boys and girls, benefiting 20 thousand students to date.
