GLRaina calls on CEO J&K, urges immediate issuance of notification for Migrant voters
Former MLC & JK UT spokesperson of BJP Girdhari Lal Raina called on Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) J&K and urged him to speed up the issuance of notification for voters of the Displaced Community. GL Raina, accompanied by Rajiv Pandita election in charge BJP-KDD raised several issues related to the effective participation of the community in forthcoming Lok Sabha election.
Over the years there has been low turnout of displaced Kashmiri voters in Jammu and Kashmir owing to multiple factors like deficient reach out and the voting process. Former MLC led team stressed need to abolish M form process arrangements to vote in the special voting polling stations at their present place of address is ensured. Raina also pointed out scope for manipulation of postal ballots as was experienced in past elections and urged CEO to authorise ARO-Migrants to receive and count postal ballots in Jammu.
Former Legislator emphasized the need to have a sufficient time span for voters to complete the formalities and urged upon the CEO to do away with requirement of attestation by gazetted officers and permit self-attestation where ever necessary.
BJP spokesperson also raised the issue of community specific reach out and awareness campaign to educate and motivate voters for increased participation in the election process. He added that community artists and icons can be roped in for such a campaign.
