Both houses of Parliament adjourned for the day
Both the houses of Parliament on Monday continued to witness pandemonium over Pegasus snooping and farm laws before being adjourned for the day. Earlier, in the Lok Sabha, when the house met after the second adjournment at 2 P.M., members from Congress, TMC, Left and others again trooped into the well raising slogans. Amid ruckus, the Presiding Officer tried to take up matters of urgent importance. As the Opposition members continued their protest, the house was adjourned till 3.30 P.M. Earlier, the Tribunals Reforms Bill, 2021 was introduced in the house amidst din.
In the morning, when the house met for the day, Opposition members tried to raise issues related to Pegasus snooping and farm laws and created uproar. Amid ruckus, Speaker Om Birla tried to run the Question Hour urging the agitating members to go back to their seats and allow the house to function. But, the members continued their sloganeering by showing placards.
Similar scenes were witnessed in the Rajya Sabha. When the house reassembled at 2 P.M. after the second adjournment, Opposition members including Congress, TMC, Left and Aam Aadmi Party continued with the demand for discussion over Pegasus snooping and farm laws. Members from SP, BSP, Shivsena and NCP were also on their feet.
Amid uproar and unruly scenes, the house passed the Inland Vessels Bill, 2021. The Constitution (Schedule Tribes) Order (Amendment) Bill, 2021 was introduced. Amidst ruckus, Deputy Chairman Harivansh adjourned the house for one hour till 3.36 P.M. Earlier, the house could not complete Question Hour despite repeated appeals by the Deputy Chairman. When the house met for the day, the same situation prevailed. Opposition members had given adjournment notices which were rejected by Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu.
In the morning, both houses congratulated Badminton Player, P. V. Sindhu for winning the bronze medal in the Tokyo Olympics.
