Former J&K Deputy CM condemns vandalization of Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s statue in Pak
Jammu: Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta on Wednesday condemned the vandalization of Maharaja Ranjit Singh statue in the Pakistan stating that the country has proved to be a failed state which is incapable of ensuring security and safety to minorities which are running helter-skelter to lead a life with dignity and without fear.
“The situation out there speaks louder than words that the country is a failed state with no control of the government on radical entities which do not respect the law of the land and are brutally after minorities whether Hindus, Sikhs, Christians or Parsis,” Mr Gupta here said in a statement.
“The vandalization of the statue of Maharaja Ranjit Singh is not an isolated case as earlier also many temples, gurdwaras and other places of worship of minorities have been desecrated and demolished making it difficult for minorities to live a dignified life”, he said.
The BJP leader urged the central dispensation to hold talks with its counterpart in Islamabad to put a check on such gruesome acts which are condemnable by all means as in no civilized country this kind of brutality against the minorities can be allowed to happen.
Mr Gupta said that frequent attacks on minorities’ temples and other places having great sanctity, is proof that the Hindus, Sikhs and other non-majority communities are not safe in Pakistan.
“The the governments of the powerful countries including India should exert pressure on the government of Pakistan to act appropriately in the matter and give the stringent punishment to the culprits acting against the minorities,” said the veteran leader.
