Election Commission Shed Poll-Related Restrictions as MCC is Lifted in J&K
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has officially lifted the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) in Jammu and Kashmir marking the end of the election period in the erstwhile state. This decision comes after the completion of the election process and the declaration of results.
The MCC, which was put in place to ensure a fair and transparent electoral process, guided political conduct during the polling period. Its cessation is effective immediately, and authorities have been urged to inform all relevant stakeholders.
In a notification to the Chief Secretary and Chief Electoral Officer of J&K, the ECI confirmed that the MCC is no longer in effect. This move signals a return to normal political activities in Jammu and Kashmir. [KNT]
