Meteorological Department Issues Amber Alert For Thundershowers In Western Islands

In Sri Lanka, the prevailing showery conditions are expected to continue further due to the development of atmospheric disturbance in the vicinity of Island Nation. The Meteorological department in the island has issued an Amber alert and added that thundershowers will occur in the western part of the country. It further added that heavy showers above 100 mm are also likely at some places.

The general public has been advised to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
