NC has Put Art 370 Resolution on back-burner: Sajad Lone
Associated News Bureau
(ANB): On the inaugural day of the Jammu & Kashmir Assembly session, MLA Handwara Sajad Lone reiterated his commitment to the restoration of Article 370.
Lone in his speech in the Legislative Assembly expressed support for Article 370, pledging his alignment with any move that seeks to restore the region’s unique constitutional privileges.
He said that his support for the abrogation’s reversal as sought by PDP MLA Waheed Parra is not merely a political statement but a firm commitment, saying, “Wherever the 370 resolution stands, we will support it. This book is not closed,” Lone said, according to the Associated News Bureau (ANB).
Reacting to the remarks of ruling Party leader and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on the Waheed Parra’s move on Art-370, Lone said it was 5 versus 85, acknowledging the substantial opposition but urging unity on the matter.
In his address, Lone also criticized the government’s unfulfilled promise to prioritize Article 370 in the Governor’s address, which he noted was missing from the speech.
Referring to a campaign promise, he asserted that discussions on the issue should not be postponed, expressing disappointment in the lack of official recognition in the session’s initial agenda.
He chided Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for meeting with BJP National Leadership without anything in return for the people of J&K.
” Presenting Shawls to them won’t yield anything. They should address the aspirations of people for which they have a mandate.” (ANB)
