Two workers from Kupwara die of ‘asphyxiation’ in Srinagar
KNT: Two laborers from Kalaroos in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district were found dead in their rented accommodation in the Qamarwari area of Srinagar, with preliminary reports pointing to asphyxiation as the cause of death.
The deceased are Parvaiz Ahmad and Mohammad Yousuf Khan, both residents of Kalaroos.
Police sources said that both the workers were found lying unconscious in their room. They were shifted to hospital, but doctors declared them dead on arrival.
Police officials confirmed the incident, stating that a formal investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances surrounding their deaths. “We are exploring all angles, and the preliminary cause appears to be suffocation,” a police spokesperson said.
Authorities have urged landlords and tenants in Srinagar to ensure proper ventilation and safety measures in their homes, particularly during the cold season when heating devices are in use. [KNT]
