Three Arrested for Assaulting SMC Sanitation Worker In Lal Chowk

Police have arrested three individuals in connection with the physical assault and extortion of a sanitation worker in the Lal Chowk area.
According to a statement from a police spokesperson to ANB, the incident occurred during night hours of December 21-22, 2024. The victim, identified as Gh. Mohiuddin, son of Gh. Hassan Sheikh, a resident of Firdous Abad, Batamaloo, approached Police Station Maisuma on December 23 in an injured condition to file a complaint.
In his statement, the victim reported that around 2:00 AM, while he was on his way to Budshah Chowk for sanitation work, he was intercepted by a group of assailants. The individuals physically assaulted him and forcibly took cash from his wallet before fleeing.
He further added, following the complaint, the police initiated an investigation and utilized CCTV footage along with other technical evidence to identify and apprehend the culprits. The arrested individuals have been identified as:
Ishfaq Ahmad Dar, alias Ish Mut, son of Khursheed Ahmad Dar, resident of Nishat Khaki Mohalla, Srinagar
Tahir Ahmad Mir, alias 90, son of Sonaullah Mir, originally from Bangladesh Colony, Rainawari, currently residing in Palpora Noorbagh, Srinagar
Arsalan Mushtaq Wandroo, alias Karihul, son of Mushtaq Ahmad, resident of Hasibath, Rainawari, Srinagar
A case has been registered under FIR No. 30/2024 at Police Station Maisuma, and further investigation is underway. (ANB)
