Snowfall Alert Issued for Srinagar: Authorities Advise Caution

The District Magistrate of Srinagar has issued a cautionary weather advisory in light of the snowfall forecast by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) for January 4 to January 6, 2025.
According to the advisory copy issued by the Srinagar Administration with ‘Associated News Bureau’ read that, the public has been urged to adhere to safety protocols outlined by the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) and to limit non-essential travel during the snowfall period to minimize risks.
Essential departments, including the Mechanical Engineering Department (MH&ED), Public Works Department (PWD), Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL), Jal Shakti, and Health & Medical Education, have been directed to remain on standby for snow clearance and other emergency tasks. Field personnel from these departments are expected to remain at their designated locations to ensure prompt response to any situation.
