Two Drug Peddlers Arrested in Downtown Srinagar, Recover Contraband

Srinagar, In its ongoing crackdown against the illegal drug trade, Srinagar Police arrested two drug peddlers in downtown Srinagar and seized a substantial quantity of contraband from their possession.
According to Associated News Bureau, police team from Police Post Urdu Bazar, during a checkpoint operation at Maharaj Gunj, apprehended a drug peddler identified as Owais Mushtaq Dar, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Dar, a resident of Sheikh Mohalla, SR Gunj. Upon searching him, police recovered a significant quantity of contraband. Consequently, an FIR (No. 05/2025) was registered under relevant sections of the NDPS Act at Police Station Maharaj Gunj, and an investigation was initiated.
During the course of the investigation, police identified another drug peddler linked to the case. The accused, Momin Bilal Kanu, son of Bilal Ahmad Kanu, a resident of Banday Kocha, Maharaj Gunj, was subsequently arrested. Upon searching him, authorities recovered another substantial quantity of contraband substances.
Both accused individuals have been taken into custody, and further investigations are underway to uncover potential links in the narcotics network. (ANB)
