BSF Acquires Over 13,000 Kanals of Land for Border Fencing in J&K
Jammu, KNT: The Border Security Force (BSF) has acquired 13,415 kanals of land across 113 villages in Jammu, Samba, and Kathua districts for border fencing along the Indo-Pak border, Revenue Minister Sakina Itoo informed the Assembly on Monday.
Addressing the House, Itoo stated that the land acquisition was a crucial step toward bolstering border security and preventing cross-border infiltration.
She added that a 135-feet-wide fenced strip has been established in these areas, reinforcing defensive measures along the sensitive frontier.
“The government remains committed to safeguarding border areas and addressing security concerns. The fencing not only serves as a protective barrier but also helps regulate movement and ensure the safety of residents living near the border,” the minister said.
The fencing project is part of the larger security strategy to curb infiltration and smuggling activities along the border. [KNT]
