We are committed towards community cause: AIKS
On taking over as the new President of All India Kashmiri Samaj (AIKS), an apex body of
many affiliates and an oldest socio-religious organisation whose headquarters are at New
Delhi, Dr. Romesh Raina said that he is committed towards the community cause and the
community issues will be highlighted with more vigour and renewed zeal.
Appreciating the role of outgoing President, Col, Tej Tikoo, Dr. Raina said that he took the organisation to the new heights and his exemplary policies will be extended in my tenure as well. However, he
said, since the community is passing through changed circumstances therefore it becomes
awfully necessary to update our work pattern and work with new tools. Dr. Raina conveyed
that his focus would be on creation of a legitimate Minority Space in Kashmir, Political
Empowerment and Political Representation for the beleaguered community, upgradation of
Sub District Hospital Jagati to a full-fledged District Hospital, hike in the monthly cash relief
with immediate effect , accommodation for financially constrained sections of the
Community who are homeless and extension of various Govt welfare schemes for all the
members of exiled community irrespective of where they have made homes. Regarding the
Rehabilitation of the displaced Community, he said that he would shortly be seeking views of
the affiliates and other important stake holders. Laying stress on creating a harmonious
relationship between various KP organizations, he added that the steps in that direction are in
the offing.
Earlier the meeting started with an impressive presentation of Col. Tej Tiku wherein he spoke
about the role of AIKS in Community affairs and the policies and programmes pursued
during his tenure. Subsequently, he led the new President to the chair and felicitated him with
a bouquet on behalf of his entire outgoing team. Sh. M.L Malla, Sh. R.K Bhan, Sh. Vijay
Kashkari and Sh. Sudhir Shah, felicitated Dr. Raina and they said that community has great
expectations from AIKS and the new team.
The meeting was attended by other eminent personalities of the communities including Sh.
Sunil Koul, Sh. Sudhir Shah, Smt. Alka Lahori, Sh. Vijay Kachroo, Sh. Rohit Dhar, Sh. Dalip
Koul. Sh. Puran Patwari conveyed gratitude and vote of thanks.
