Miran Sahib Police Bust Major Drug Racket; 7 Peddlers Held with Heroin, Weapons, Cash & Vehicle
Jammu, ANB: In a major blow to drug trafficking, Miran Sahib Police Station in Jammu successfully dismantled a drug network by arresting seven peddlers during routine patrolling and naka checking operations. The crackdown led to the recovery of 160 grams of heroin-like substance, two sharp-edged weapons (Tokas), five mobile phones, and ₹7,000 in cash.
A Swift Dzire vehicle used in the illegal trade was also seized. According to news service, Associated News Bureau, ANB, The arrested individuals have been identified as Mohd Mansha, S/o Mohd Mirza, R/o Ghandhu Chack Phallian Mandal, Mohd Saleem, S/o Gulam Hussain, R/o Hatli More Kathua, Mohd Kabir, S/o Gulam Rasool, R/o Kanskhassan Reasi, Lal Hussain, S/o Abdul Hussain, R/o Alwara Phallian Mandal, Mohd Mushtaq, S/o Abdul Hamied, R/o Kanskhassan, Anil Kumar, S/o Ram Dita, R/o Thalwal Phallian Mandal, Asif Ali, S/o Sher Baz, R/o Gujjar Nagar, Tehsil Jammu.
According to news service, Associated News Bureau, ANB, the arrests were made during area domination duties when suspicious activity alerted police personnel, prompting a thorough check that led to the recovery of the contraband and weapons. Preliminary interrogation is underway and is likely to unravel more details about the drug supply chain and distribution network.
An FIR No. 85/2025 has been registered at Police Station Miran Sahib under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) including Sections 109, 132, 121, 191(2), and 111, along with Sections 8, 21, 22, 29 of the NDPS Act and Section 4/25 of the Arms Act. The operation was led by Inspector Jai Paul Sharma, SHO Miran Sahib, under the supervision of SDPO R S Pura Gurmeet Singh and SP Headquarters Jammu Irshad Hussain Rather.
Police have initiated a detailed investigation, including financial probes, to trace the origins, networks, and proceeds of the narcotics trade. Authorities are also exploring both backward and forward linkages of the case to dismantle the entire chain.
