Shopian Police Launches Extensive Checks on Car Dealers, Workshops and Chemical Outlets

Srinagar, , KNT: Shopian Police has carried out a district-wide inspection drive covering car dealers, automobile workshops, fertilizer outlets and chemical shops as part of a broader initiative to enhance public safety and ensure that regulated materials are not diverted for unlawful use.

Teams deployed across different parts of the district examined sales records, inventory logs and purchase registers besides conducting on-ground inspections of storage units and transportation practices. Officials said the verification aims to prevent any possibility of misuse by ensuring all transactions involving vehicles, fertilizers and chemicals comply strictly with existing regulations.

According to police officers supervising the operation, the focus of the exercise is on documentation accuracy, proper stock maintenance and adherence to licensing norms. Inspections also assessed whether dealers and shopkeepers maintain required records related to supply chains and customer details, especially for materials considered sensitive.

Shopian Police has urged all business establishments to extend full cooperation during these checks, emphasising that such preventive measures are undertaken to safeguard the local population and strengthen security preparedness. Officers added that the district police will continue similar drives periodically to uphold transparency and compliance across sectors dealing with regulated goods. [KNT]
