SSP Traffic Rural warns parents against handing vehicles to minors, bike used for stunts seized

Qazigund,  KNT: The Special Enforcement Team of Traffic Rural Kashmir on Tuesday intercepted a chronic stunt biker in the Qazigund area of Kulgam district as part of its ongoing drive against rash, negligent and stunt driving.

Officials said the action was carried out under the supervision of SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir Ravinder Pal Singh, along with DySP Traffic Qazigund Kulgam. The intercepted biker was identified as Shawer Ahmad Lone of Hariwarh Kulgam.

The motorcycle being used for stunt riding was seized under relevant sections of law. Traffic officials said the rider had been repeatedly involved in dangerous stunt driving, posing a serious risk to himself and other road users.

A counselling session was also held on the spot, during which the biker was educated about the legal consequences of stunt driving and its negative impact on students and youth, particularly through the circulation of stunt videos on social networking sites.

Officials said SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir has already issued special directions to field officers to intensify enforcement in order to eliminate rash, negligent and stunt driving across rural areas of the Valley.

Traffic authorities once again appealed to motorists and parents not to hand over vehicles to minors, stunt drivers or persons without valid driving licences, warning that such negligence often leads to serious road accidents and fatalities. [KNT]
