Northern Railway adds extra coaches to special train amid snow disruption
Srinagar, KNT: Northern Railway has added two extra 3AC coaches to a special train operating between Katra and Srinagar to assist passengers affected by snow related road and flight disruptions.
According to officials, the decision was taken by the Jammu Division to provide additional capacity and ensure smoother connectivity during adverse weather conditions. The extra coaches have been attached to Special Train No. 04629/30, enabling accommodation for an additional 288 passengers.
Railway authorities said the move was aimed at ensuring comfortable travel for stranded commuters and maintaining uninterrupted rail connectivity between Katra and Srinagar amid ongoing snowfall and disruptions.
Officials added that the railways remain alert and responsive to weather related challenges and will continue to take necessary steps to facilitate passenger movement during the winter season. [KNT]
